The Leyaata Ane Project is saving the lives of mothers and newborns at birth in 160 communities in Northern Ghana. “Leyaata” means “Rescue Us” in Mo.
In April 2016, Canadian volunteers Dr. Jensen and Dr. Wilson travelled to Ghana to train health workers in infant resuscitation and safe childbirth practices. Health workers that were certified in the training received simple equipment to help them put their new skills into practice.
Since then we have received messages of joy from health workers from the 45 facilities represented. Just this week, we received this joyful email from Buswema Health Centre:
This babe was born with an apgar score of 1/10, but has survived with the training I had on helping babies breathe. Thanks be to God and the Leyaata Health Team for their SUPPORT!
