CHAIR, GRID CANADA
Dr. Charles Peniston, MD, CM, FRCSC, FACS, DTMH, is a highly respected cardiovascular surgeon with 33 years of clinical experience. He had further strengthened his commitment to global health by earning a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of Glasgow. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Peniston serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto and is a committed elder at St. Paul’s Leaskdale. He also previously served as Chair of Heart Valve Voice Canada and as Physician Leader of the Cardiac Programme at Southlake from December 2021 to February 2024.
Since 2009, Dr. Peniston has faithfully served in medical missions in Northern Ghana, working closely with local healthcare professionals and volunteers. He is a founding member of Ghana Health Partners, an organization dedicated to building consulting, teaching, and service partnerships with Leyaata Hospital. In 2023, he joined the GRID Board of Directors, further deepening his long-standing commitment to holistic, Christ-centered global health and community development.
Beyond his professional and ministry work, Dr. Peniston is a devoted husband to his wife, Sandra, and together they are blessed with four children and three grandchildren.
