Why Donate Securities?

When you make a gift of securities to GRID, you’re joining the journey in transforming the communities of Ghana’s most vulnerable in a way that has an immediate impact.

By donating publicly traded securities, you eliminate the capital gains tax that you’d have to pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. You’ll also receive a charitable tax receipt for the full value of your securities donation.

Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, and employee stock options.

Speak with your financial advisor or broker to decide which investments make the most financial and philanthropic impact. Then ask your financial advisor or broker to transfer your securities to GRID by completing the Charitable Donation of Securities In Kind form. Finally, get in touch and let us know you have made your gift so that we can track the transaction and show our appreciation.
