Annual Ghana Health Team

Our Canadian health team is coordinated by Dr. Jennifer Wilson, a physician and board member of GRID. Despite the demanding schedule, this team opportunity is so popular that we now have more applicants than we can accommodate. If you are interested in participating in one of our teams, we suggest that you read what we have posted here, attend any open meetings that we have about the team, and contact Dr. Wilson about your interest.

We try to post daily updates on our website about our medical team when they are in Ghana. If you would like to receive these updates by email, then please subscribe to receive our website updates by email.

FAQs

How many people are included on the team?

Our partner in Ghana, NEA, can accommodate a maximum team size of 45 people.

Who reviews the applications and selects the team members?

A selection committee headed by Dr. Jennifer Wilson reviews all applications and makes the final decisions about team composition.

How do people get selected to be a part of the team?

We build each team based on the critical health needs that NEA has identified.  We start by determining the number of physicians available and needed, which enables us to then assess how many nurses, pharmacists and other personnel are needed.  Spaces for dentists and eye specialists are also reserved.

I’m not a medical professional.  Can I still apply?

We encourage you to apply if you are interested.  Occasionally a non-medical volunteer opportunity may become available for a team.

I have more questions.  Whom can I contact?

Please contact Dr. Jennifer Wilson for any questions related to the Ghana Health Team.  All other inquiries should be sent to GRID.
